full appearanceRory isn't anything particularly special. Yeah, sure, he's cute in the "aww, look at him!" kind of way, but he isn't exactly on par with the modern opinion of "hot" or "sexy". It probably doesn't help that he keeps himself looking rather like a teenager, minus the zits that disappeared with puberty. His hair is longer, almost Bieber-esque, but trust me kids, he rocked this look first, so it's his, and he certainly doesn't leave it puffed out as a circle. His bangs are long a swept to the right side of his face for the most part, though they don't obscure his vision at all(though they do get annoying on occasion, he finds). In fact, some days it's even messy because he hasn't found time to brush it out, which certainly doesn't help him seem like a teacher. His eyes aren't spectacular either, they don't captivate and they aren't exactly dark enough to "melt" into. They're just hazel. That's it.
Baggy sweatshirts or plaid button-ups over top of plain tees and loose jeans(that fit around his waist and stay up without a belt, thank you muchly), are his usual attire, along with black and white converse, which he'll occasionally doodle on if he gets bored, using a black permanent ink marker on the white and a whiteout pen on the black. When he runs out of doodle room, he replaces them. The one thing he won't stand for is ripped jeans, though faded jeans are perfectly fine. The funny thing about Rory is perhaps the potential to be more than the cute, almost childlike, guy in the corner. Dress him up in a suit, trim his hair, and let him grow a little stubble and he looks like a completely different person. But, trust me, getting him to that won't be easy, if it is possible at all. He'll hardly wear a suit even when he has to, let alone is he about to trim his hair and stop shaving.
personality
likesTechnology in general, his hair(yes, he actually cares about his hair), his converse, music(exception of metal and country), good old junk food and lots of it
dislikesGetting caught(which isn't very common), death, weapons of any kind, (most)country music, metal music, white chocolate
strengthsHacker supreme, actually quite the social butterfly, blending into the background
weaknessesAnything requiring physical strength of any kind, refuses to look like(and often act like) an adult, politeness is not his strong suite
secretsHe accidentally killed his own brother(or, he blames himself for it), and ended up getting the rest of his family killed as well
full personalityRory is an ever-puzzling mystery. He's been through heartache, just like anyone, yet it doesn't seem to affect him at all. Except for the fact it does, just not in the normal way. Rather than breaking, crying and withdrawing within himself, Rory has become more and more social, a desperate search to replace those ties and find solace that it wasn't his fault, even if he's already been told that a million times and hasn't believed it.
He's childish, still acting rather like an immature teenager. He'll gladly jump into student gossip, sit on desks swinging his legs back and forth, doodle in the corner of someone's test(as well as his shoes), and randomly get off topic to tell a joke, even one as inappropriate for the classroom as a fart joke. You'd be hard-pressed to say he's serious, but he is to a degree. He's just... different. He knows the kids will learn best if they like the class, because he knows he did, so he makes it fun. If that means blasting music, regular five minute breaks to discuss gossip, and getting himself in trouble, then, by god, he'll do it. Yes, there is a darn good reason why he's mistaken for a student by just about every student who hasn't had him yet as a teacher. He's also prone to helping students sneak off campus, provided they don't mind him following them to make sure they get back safe and sound.
When it gets down to actual work(hacking, that is, and computer programming, because teaching is so not work, it's play), he's actually rather focused and serious and is capable of tuning anyone out if he needs to in order to get the job done. No one ever said Rory wasn't strange, after all.

full historyRory was born while his parents were on vacation in London, England, a whole month early. The birth was unexpected, but it went surprisingly well and soon enough the Lancaster's had their first baby boy. As soon as they could, they flew home to California and settled him into his room properly, though this took awhile as he was constantly in and out of the hospital due to his prematurity. His lungs had not quite finished developing, so although they worked well enough, he had problems now and then and was prone to lung infections until he was about two when they settled down, leaving him with asthma. It wasn't too severe, but he never liked the shortness of breath so as he grew, he avoided physical activity for the most part. Physical education was his worst nightmare, and bullying ensued when he spent almost every lunch time and recess in the corner playing with his gameboy.
His grades were never stellar, at least, not when they didn't involve computers and technology. He barely scraped by science and spent more than a few summers in summer school. His brother, two years younger than him, always did better. Eric was healthy, active, and smart. Everything Rory really wasn't. And at first, Rory hated him for it. But, then they shared a playground and suddenly the bullies were leaving him alone. Rory spent almost ever waking second with his younger brother after that. Unfortunately, that wouldn't last long.
Eric was eight when he disappeared. Rory was devastated, blaming himself. He was supposedly to be watching the young boy, just while his mother went to the washroom. It shouldn't have been difficult, they were only at the pool, but no more than a minute after she left, Rory glanced up from his book and Eric was gone. Rory scrambled up, looking desperately for his brother, asking everyone around him. By the time his mom came out, the pool was in a panic, mothers herding children, Rory crying in a corner, lifeguards trying to find some semblance of order.
They found his body two days later by the side of the road, in a ditch.
For the longest time, Rory was numb. He went through daily routines, brushed his teeth, ate breakfast, went to school, came home. Black eyes and bruises became a regular thing, but he didn't try to fight back anymore. It just wasn't worth it, he didn't think. There were therapists, lots of therapists, and everyone, even his parents, didn't blame him, but it didn't matter. He blamed himself, and that was enough. It was then his true genius was shown. He was bored, distraught, and troubled and in a desperate attempt to find the punishment he thought he deserved, he hacked into the pentagon. At ten years of age, Rory had hacked into one of the most secure systems in the United States of America. And for years, he wasn't even caught.
He became fascinated trying to understand the types of thing he found there, constantly hacking back in, as well as slipping through back doors to multiple different places throughout the world, using the name Phantom. This became a past time and brought his confidence to a whole new level. Suddenly, he was fighting back when he got bullied, and he was trying twice as hard at school. His grades raised, although he was still a steady C student, and he hit high school, jumping into the tech program with such enthusiasm it startled everyone who knew him. He excelled in the technological aspect, drawing his average up from all the other bad grades, but then he slipped up one day while hacking back home.
Rory was two days away from eighteen and being brought in for questioning by the FBI.
He'd been caught, but he was cooperative. He told them everything he had done, that he hadn't told anyone, sold any secrets. He'd just been curious. He spent his eighteenth birthday in a holding cell until someone finally had the brilliant idea to put him through a polygraph test, which he passed. Finally, they believed him. He was thrown into CIA bootcamp, where he failed miserably in almost every aspect. But, his hacking and programming skills were sublime. He was the best they'd seen in decades, and they nurtured that. He was assigned to work with an agent on a rather large assignment.
A few weeks in, he overheard the agent talking on the phone. He had gone rogue. Rory, having come out of his shell quite a bit since he'd been that withdrawn, ten year old boy, called him on it. The man held a gun to his head, told him to complete the program. Rory agreed. At least, on the outside. You see, Rory had learned how to lie, and lie well. As soon as the agent was out of the room, he fried the hard drives so the program was irreparable, taking the only copy with him on a thumbdrive, and ran.
By the time he got to his home, his parents were dead.
This made Rory angry first, though, and he headed back, agreeing to help and then sabotaging the agent. The agent was then caught, labeled rogue, and Rory thanked. When he politely requested to retire, they understood, but offered him another option. Teaching. Seeing it as a way to repent what he saw as his sins, he took them up on that offer, though he took a few years off first, just to collect himself. They called to take him off vacation, though, when they needed him and he came here. He's brand new, just like all the freshmen students, and he's hoping it will go well, though he's not too sure if it will or not.
